Template files pollute working directory

Cloning the repo into a presentation folder which is under version control will annoy the user with template files (such as *.sty) to add manually to their gitignore.

Can we solve this somehow? Is there a way to add a gitignore to releases? Or do we provide sample entries to be added manually.
